WHY GUIDED SNOWMOBILING CREATES A SAFER, MORE THRILLING ADVENTURE
As the snow starts to fall and blanket the horizon, we begin to imagine ourselves flowing across it impossibly; sliding with our feet or somehow gliding over it. But, in reality, we do it with the next best thing, snowmobiling! But using snowmobiles to venture out into the white haze of rolling hills can be daunting and requires experience to ensure your safety. That’s where Uinta Recreation’s guided snowmobile tours come in! We’ll make sure all the conditions are safe, the trails are clear, the vehicles are prepped, and that you know how to properly ride your snowmobile. When safety is taken care of by our experienced tour guides, you can feel free to focus on the fun!
Safety First: Expert Guides and Gear
Firstly, you’re in prepared and experienced hands. Our primary guides are all Wilderness First Responder certified, so they know how to prepare for weather shifts and unseen hazards beginners don’t usually see. On every guided snowmobiling tour, the guides are prepared with avalanche safety gear such as medical kits, shovels, and radios, so they can conduct first aid as well as get in contact with whoever is needed.
Before the guided tour starts, we’ll show you how to dig a probe, recognize avalanche terrain, and use a transceiver. We also provide goggles and a proper helmet for the ride. Safety is our greatest priority, so you can be confident enough to let go and enjoy!
Local Expertise Unlocks Hidden Terrain
There are two major upsides to having a tour guide:
- Uinta Recreation’s tour guides are local experts, meaning they know how to avoid busy areas. If you want a blank canvas of snow to mark your spot, your snowmobile guide will take you to the perfect spot! Guides are also versed in the local nature, so they can tell you about the trees and animals that call these mountains home.
- They can read the skill set of the group and assess which spots are going to suit them in terms of balancing safety and fun!
Taking a guided snowmobiling tour is sure to keep everyone safe, informed, and in the best setting to suit their needs and have fun!
Confidence, Comfort, and Total Thrills
If you’re going to bring your family along for the ride, it’s surely best to have a guide by your side. This takes some weight off the parents’ shoulders, as the guides are there to teach the kids what they need to know to ride, but also come prepared with proper tools in case a snowmobile gets stuck. Plus, it always helps to have a set of professional eyes on the kids!
Before you get out there, we’ll make sure you have everything you need. Uinta Recreation offers the gamut, including snowmobiles, fresh fuel, warm gear, helmets, goggles, and even heated snowcoaches for children!
Guided vs. Unguided: The Clear Choice
There are many adventurous types who’d really like to go out into the mountains and explore for themselves what’s to be seen in that vast wonderland of nature. This is fine in theory, but it becomes harder when you think about transporting the vehicle to private or permit-only trailheads, or even when those trails have collected enough snow for mobiling without hitting dirt. Further, there is checking your gear, assessing avalanche risk, and ensuring you have the equipment for emergency signaling. One quick outing could end up not so fun if you’re not truly prepared to head out on a powerful snowmobile by yourself.
Let’s say you were to have a guide come with you, not to hinder you, but to enhance the experience according to your preferences. They will be able to point you to something like deep powdery snow if you want to just do huge carves and toss up waves of snow. But if you’re looking for gorgeous viewpoints, that may be in an entirely different spot. The guides do a lot more to improve the experience than to hinder it. They’ll expend the energy on logistics so you can spend your energy on getting the experience you dreamed of when you signed up!
