A guided UTV tour means our professional guide leads your group from the front while you focus entirely on the ride. No route decisions, no navigation, no wondering if you made a wrong turn. As your guide, we set the pace, read the group, and adjust to match your party’s experience and comfort level throughout the tour.

All tours depart directly from Uinta Recreation’s office at our headquarters at 2210 S Highway 40 in Heber City — 25 minutes from Park City, 30 minutes from Provo, and 45 minutes from Salt Lake City. The process involves checking in, completing a 30-minute pre-tour safety briefing with hands-on driving tutorials, getting fitted for helmets, and riding out together. Tours run for three hours.

Who Guided Tours Are Built For

Guided tours work best for groups with mixed experience levels, first-time UTV riders, or any group large enough that having someone manage logistics from the front improves the day. When you have six, eight, or twelve people on machines, a guide keeps everything organized and safe in ways that a self-directed group simply cannot replicate.

This is the experience we recommend for bachelor parties, corporate team-building events, family reunions, and any outing where the goal is a great time with no hassle. Larger groups consistently prefer the guided format for the added control and risk management it provides. For smaller parties or experienced riders who want to set their own pace, our self-guided UTV tours offer the same terrain with a QR code trail map, Garmin GPS, and the freedom to ride on your schedule.

Booking Requirements

Typically, we have at least 2 machines available for our guided tours. Machine-only rental without a guide is also available if you want to ride without a tour. That is handled separately — see our UTV rentals page for details.

The Trail Routes

Guided tours run through the surrounding Uinta backcountry. Your guide selects routes that fit your group’s skill level and adjusts on the fly based on how everyone is riding. Depending on the season, our guided tour routes utilize the Lake Creek, Center Creek, Current Creek, and Mill Hollow areas.  We will ascend to 10,000′ elevation and be rewarded with stunning 360-degree views, overlooking Utah’s highest mountain range, the High Uintas Wilderness, as well as the Wasatch Mountains and Mount Timpanogos. If your group is experienced and wants more challenging terrain, your guide can take you on more technical sections. The route is not fixed — it responds to who is on the trail.

Our UTV Fleet

We purchase new machines every season. All Can-Am models from our rental fleet are available for guided tours: the Commander DPS 700 and Commander XT 700 for two-person machines, the  Maverick Sport 1000R and the Commander XT 1000R for two-person high-performance riding, the Maverick Sport Max 1000R for groups of four, and the Defender Max for up to six passengers. Operators of 1000cc machines must be 25 or older. All drivers must be 18 or older with a valid license.

Safety and Equipment

Helmets are provided for all riders and passengers. Your guide carries a Garmin GPS with SOS capability — in a medical emergency on the trail, one button press contacts emergency services with exact GPS coordinates, even without cell service.

Every machine is inspected against a safety checklist before the tour. The pre-tour orientation and safety briefing covers machine controls, hand signals, group riding protocol, what to do if you fall behind or need to stop, and what to do in the event of an accident. No one rides until everyone is ready.

Off-Season and Group Pricing

Peak season runs from June through September. If you are booking for a group event during April, May, October, or November, early booking discounts are available — quieter trails and lower rates. Corporate event packages and large-group rates are available upon request. Click the booking link on the right to reserve your spot, or call us at (801) 613-0288 for direct support.
