UTAH FAMILY REUNION UTV TOURS

ALL AGES, ALL TOGETHER, ALL WASATCH BACKCOUNTRY

A UTV tour is one of those rare reunion activities that works for the whole family — grandparents, parents, teenagers, and kids — because it requires no prior experience and puts everyone in the same environment doing the same thing. We are based in Heber City at 2210 S Highway 40, Heber City — 25 minutes from Park City, 45 minutes from Salt Lake City, and 30 minutes from Provo – with a trail system that runs through some of the most spectacular terrain in the Wasatch Mountain State Park. It is an easy drive from most Utah vacation hubs and an activity that does not require half your group to sit it out.

No minimum age for passengers. All ages are welcome to ride along, and with six-passenger machines available, even a large extended family can move through the trail together without splitting into too many separate vehicles.

Self-Guided Works Well for Family Reunions

Family reunion groups tend to set their own pace, make their own stops, and move on their own timeline. That is exactly what a self-guided UTV tour is built for. When you check in, you receive a QR code that opens a custom Google Maps overlay on your phone — color-coded by trail difficulty, with safety markers and a recommended route based on how much time you have. Every machine goes out with a Garmin GPS unit with SOS capability for emergencies. The trailhead is a five-minute drive from our headquarters, and from there, the trail system gives you real options on how far to ride and how much elevation to take on.

For families who want someone managing the group from the front — especially if the reunion is large and includes riders at very different comfort levels — our guided side-by-side tours are also available. A guide leads the group, handles the logistics, and adjusts the pace to whoever needs the most accommodation. Either way, we will help you figure out which option fits before you book.

The Terrain

The Wasatch Mountain State Park trail system offers routes ranging from wide, smooth valley runs to canyon terrain with real elevation gain. Dutch Hollow covers a 12-mile loop with around 1,200 feet of climb — a solid route for families with riders who want to feel like they covered real ground. Snake Creek Canyon winds through old mining routes with views of Mount Timpanogos that change at every turn. Cascade Springs is a popular stop along the route, where you can park the machines and walk the boardwalks through the natural spring formations — an easy activity that the whole group can enjoy regardless of age. Jordanelle Reservoir sits nearby and offers an elevated vantage point worth the ride up.

The whole area around Heber City is worth a full day. Deer Creek Reservoir, the Homestead Crater Hot Springs in Midway, and Soldier Hollow — site of the 2002 Winter Olympic cross-country skiing events — are all within a short drive of the trailhead.

The Machines

We run five Can-Am models and purchase new equipment every season. For family reunions, the six-passenger Can-Am Defender Max HD7 is the most practical option — it comfortably seats six adults and handles every trail in the system without issue. The four-seat Can-Am Maverick Sport Max 1000R is a strong choice for smaller families seeking a higher-performance ride. Two-seat options are available for pairs within the group who prefer their own machine.

Young children who are not yet able to sit independently must be secured in a properly fitted car seat or booster seat, which families are responsible for providing. There is no minimum age for passengers otherwise.

All operators must be 18 or older with a valid driver’s license. Operators of 1000cc machines must be 25 or older. All operators are required by Utah state law to complete the Utah OHV Education Course before riding — this must be done before arrival, not on the morning of. Online waivers are required for all adults and must be signed by a parent or guardian for all minors.

Planning Your Reunion Tour

Family reunions often involve people traveling from multiple states to a central location. If your reunion is based in Park City or Salt Lake City, we are one of the easiest half-day additions to an already full itinerary. We recommend calling before you book — tell us how many people are coming, the age range of the group, and whether you are planning to be self-guided or guided. We will put together the right machine configuration and make sure the day is set up properly for your specific group.

Book early. Large groups have less flexibility to reschedule, and summer availability fills faster than most families anticipate. Reaching out three or more months in advance is the best way to secure your date. If you are booking during our slower months — April, May, October, or November — ask about early booking and group discounts. Check our current specials or ask when you call.
