UTAH HONEYMOON UTV TOURS — ROMANTIC BACKCOUNTRY RIDES FOR TWO

A honeymoon in Utah tends to center on Park City or Salt Lake City, and the activities list in both places is well-worn. A self-guided UTV tour through the Wasatch Mountain backcountry is not on most honeymoon itineraries — which is exactly why it tends to stand out when couples do it. We are in Heber City, 25 minutes from Park City and 45 minutes from Salt Lake City, and we run two-seat Can-Am side-by-sides through some of the most striking terrain in the Heber Valley. Two hours or four hours, fast or slow, it is entirely up to you.

This is an activity that fits naturally into the rhythm of a honeymoon. It does not require a group. It does not require experience. It requires showing up, getting a brief orientation, and riding through terrain that is genuinely difficult to replicate anywhere else in Utah.

Why Self-Guided Works Best for Honeymooners

A self-guided UTV tour gives couples total control over how the experience unfolds. When you check in, you receive a QR code that opens a custom Google Maps overlay on your phone — color-coded by trail difficulty, with a recommended route built around how much time you have. Every machine includes a Garmin GPS with SOS capability for emergencies. The trailhead is five minutes from our shop, and from there the trail belongs to you.

You choose when to push and when to slow down. You stop at Cascade Springs and walk the boardwalk through the natural spring formations if that is what the day calls for. You ride up through Snake Creek Canyon and sit with the view of Mount Timpanogos if that is what you want. There is no guide setting the pace, no schedule to keep, and no other group sharing the machine with you. It is as close to a private backcountry experience as you can get without renting the whole mountain.

For couples who are both completely new to UTVs and want a guide to lead them through the first ride, guided side-by-side tours are available and run three hours. A 2-vehicle minimum applies — call us ahead of time and we will sort out the details.

The Terrain

The Wasatch Mountain State Park trail system gives honeymoon couples genuine options. Dutch Hollow is a 12-mile loop with around 1,200 feet of elevation gain — a route that earns its views and leaves you with the kind of quiet satisfaction that comes from covering real ground together. Snake Creek Canyon winds through historic mining routes with 360-degree views of Mount Timpanogos that change at every turn. The light in the canyon in late afternoon is worth timing your ride around.

Cascade Springs is one of the more memorable stops in the area — park the machine and walk the boardwalks through the natural spring formations, which requires nothing more than wanting to look at something beautiful. Jordanelle Reservoir offers wide valley views from above, and the Homestead Crater Hot Springs in nearby Midway makes an easy addition to the day if you want to extend it after the ride.

Our Fleet of UTVs To Choose From

Two-seat Can-Am machines are the natural choice for honeymooners. The Commander DPS 700 (52 HP) is smooth, well-balanced, and capable across every trail in the system. The Commander XT 700 adds higher-travel suspension for a more planted, controlled feel on rougher sections of the trail. The Commander XT 1000R (100 HP) is the pick for couples who want to feel the machine and are comfortable with more power. All three are purchased new each season and inspected before every ride.

All operators must be 18 or older with a valid driver’s license. Operators of 1000cc machines must be 25 or older. Before arriving, all operators must complete the Utah OHV Education Course — required by state law. Online waivers are sent by email after booking and must be completed in advance. A major credit card with $2,500 available credit is required, and a $50 per machine per day damage agreement applies.

Booking Your Honeymoon UTV Tour

Most honeymoon couples booking with us are visiting from out of state — flying into Salt Lake City or coming through Park City as part of a broader honeymoon itinerary. Heber City is an easy drive from both and adds nothing complicated to the trip. A self-guided tour takes half a day at most, which leaves the rest of the day open for whatever else you have planned.

Honeymoon bookings tend to be time-sensitive by nature — you have specific dates and limited flexibility to move them. Book early to secure your preferred date, machine, and tour time. If your honeymoon falls during our slower months — April, May, October, or November — ask about early booking discounts when you call. Check our specials page before booking for any current offers.

Call 801-613-0288 or book at uintarecreation.com. We are at 2210 S Highway 40, Heber City — 25 minutes from Park City, 45 minutes from Salt Lake City, and 30 minutes from Provo.
